Portland Furniture FAQ's

Here are some useful customer questions & speedy responses from our team.

Question 1

Q: I am keen to purchase some products from yourselves and I want to confirm the measurements of the Portland Oak and painted 4+2 chest of draws. We have a space which is 85cm width and wanted to check where the 80cm width stated on the product page is measured from and to.

A: The 80cm width is measured at the very widest point of the chest i.e. the oak at the top - and I should think the top overhangs about 1cm each side so the width of the main body of the chest is about 77-78cm, so should fit fine in your 85cm gap. (just remember to check the gap between skirting boards as well.

Question 2

Q: Hi, I was looking to place an order for the Portland nest of tables from living room range & the 2 door 2 drawer side board which is from the dining range, just want to confirm that the paint shade is the same & they both match.

A: The paint shade across every piece in our collections is the same and all items will match each other perfectly. You’re right to check as some of the photos do show slightly different shades - but this is only as items were photographed at different times and under slightly different lighting.

Rest assured your nest of tables and sideboard will match each other fine.

Question 3

Q: Hi, I am interested in buying 2 bedside tables. The Portland oak ones. Are they stone grey? Thanks.

A: Thanks for your enquiry You are spot on with the colour, these are the Stone Grey ones!

Question 4

Q: Just discovered your website and like the look of the bedroom furniture, however there aren’t any pictures of the joints or how the furniture is put together. Please could you clarify.

A: As a rule all Chests and Cabinets come fully assembled and all Drawers use dovetail joints for strength!

Wardrobes are firstly fully built in the factory, checked, finished and then slightly dismantled into about 3/4 pieces for packing and easy access to your property. They are then really simple to reassemble and take about 10 mins just bolting together. This is called ‘knockdown’ and isn’t like flat pack, which might take a couple of hours to fully assemble each component piece and fit hardware. We’ve developed ‘knockdown’ as it is by far the best way to be able to deliver a quality Wardrobe that’s really quickly reassembled - but still fits up your stairs!

Other than that some of the Tables (Portland Console Table, Dining Table, Dressing Table) come with the 4 legs off to prevent damage in transport, and these just need to be bolted on once in you home, easy :) All drawer sections are fully built on these items so literally a couple of minutes just to put the legs on.

On the whole The Portland Range is great quality and made as fully built in the factory as possible. Where it’s been decided a bit of assembly will make the furniture more deliverable without damaging it, the assembly needed is simple and quick.

Question 5

Q:  Just wanted to confirm that if I get all 6 of the items will they all match in colour because I don't want them to be different being they are going in the same room?
And the other question is what are your returns policies if for some reason they are damaged in the delivery process?

A: Good news - all the items will match each other. Every piece is finished in just one paint colour and all real oak tops are finished in the same natural wax - so you can order with confidence that they will match in your room. Reference returns, if something does go wrong and ends up damaged we will of course replace so you end up with a perfect room.
